Oliver and Tim

I will try to get a better-lit video of Oliver, but if you peer through the gloom, you can see what a charming baby he is.

Update: This is better -- I had to buy QuickTime Pro to rotate the clip from 7/1, so I was able to make this one a little brighter...

Later update: Alas, I seem to have made it worse. Never mind. Back to the drawing board.

Oliver at 2 months

At his doctor's appointment on 6/25, Oliver was 12 pounds and 12 ounces. He likes milk, long walks in the park, swinging, and hanging out with his friends (a blue elephant, a yellow duck, a brown dog, a red and blue bear, and a mirror). He is a very curious, happy, and social little guy.

Just like his cousin Emmet

Swimming

Oliver's mommy bought him a pool! Actually, it is a restaurant-sized food storage container -- the perfect size for him to swim in safely. Oliver's mommy is very clever. He likes the water quite a lot.

After the swimming, Oliver is so clean you could just lick him. He demonstrates.

Time for a bath

Tim and I went over to Jen's for dinner last night.  After dinner and a walk, Jen let me give Oliver a bath -- he really likes the water.

Oliver registers his disapproval at being removed from the tub. (Not really. Sometimes he just sticks his tongue out. )

A little lotion...
...and he is ready for bed.

Conversations with Oliver

It's almost silly how this teeny little scrap of humanity is just so utterly fascinating. Also, he is a very fine conversationalist.

That, actually, might be a bit of an exaggeration, but it is so amazing to watch him learn to communicate-- I talk, he makes noises right back at me.

Baby? What baby?

Oliver thought this was huge fun.

Actually, that's a lie. He sort of tipped over at one point and was trying to nurse the Lion King's cheek, which he seemed to enjoy well enough, but other than that, he just tolerated us on this one. He is unbelievably patient for a guy only 50 days old...

Some things are just funny

And so Oliver smiles at them. To spare his mother's dignity, I will not tell exactly what he was smiling at, but she worked very hard for this smile.

Oliver's daddy has arrived!

After a long wait and a very long trip, Oliver's dad arrived on his son's 7 week birthday...
